IT'S A....

I went to work the morning of the ultrasound and as always picked up my daughter so we could all see the baby.  I truly feel that the more involved I let her be the more she will adjust and be okay with the end result, us not bringing a baby home.

Mrs. California flew in the morning of the ultrasound and thankfully the weather permitted and she made it alive and safely.  The day prior to her flying in they had literally shut down the airport for ice and snow on the runways.  It was beautiful the day she came in though!

We went straight down to the ultrasound and we were able to see this little pea.  He was moving like crazy and was making it difficult for the tech to get good readings on everything but she managed to get everything we needed.  When we first got to the ultrasound they were thinking it was just the gender reveal when it was actually the BIG anatomy scan.  Thankfully the tech just did the anatomy scan as well which also meant that Mrs. C was able to get a CD of the entire scan!

The tech took her time looking at everything and made sure to get lots of pictures of everything for the family and one or two for me!

So the big reveal of this little pea is that it is most DEFINITELY...

A BOY!!!!!

I wasn't sure if Mrs. California would find out what he was since she was going back and forth of whether they would find out or not.  I am so glad that she decided to find out because I was so worried that I would slip on what it was.

As soon as the tech put the wand on my belly you could instantly see his parts.  This baby is not shy at all and made it very clear and without a doubt that he was in fact a he!  They would have been fine with whatever God intended this baby to be but I could tell they were very excited that it was a boy!!

18 weeks or 122 days left

20 weeks along!!  Halfway baby!

21 weeks and 1 day

With Jen and we are a week and a half apart.  12/10/2013

22 weeks along

Christmas Eve, 22 weeks and a few days

I'm big enough that things can officially rest on the belly.

On our way to the big ultrasound appointment with Mrs. California!!

I am probably only going to be updating every month or so from now on.  Life has been so crazy and hectic with the holidays that I was wanting to update but just didn't have time or didn't make the time.  I will be 23 weeks this Saturday and am doing really great besides the usual aches and pains that come with pregnancy.  We had our BIG ultrasound on the 20th and Mrs. California flew out to see her cute little pea!  I have started to take Prilosec OTC and that has seriously helped with the acid reflux/heart burn that I was having.  I can't believe I even waited as long as I did because it has helped so much.  This little pea moves around like crazy and like I was thinking is breech right now which makes more sense to why I'm getting kicks in the crotch a ton.

As much as this pregnancy as been so different then what I experienced with my daughter the fact that it is getting closer to the end makes me sad just the same.  I have really enjoyed helping this sweet family and know how loved this little pea is already.  He is one special and very loved little one!

Weight Gain: I have gained a whopping 22 pounds so far.  I gained so much with my daughter and I see that happening this time around too.

Cravings: Mexican food and anything with a kick or spice to it.  So not like me at all to like spicy foods.  ha  I had a to die for smothered burrito that was just amazing and just what this little pea was wanting!!

Symptoms: Some heart burn episodes, LOTS of pelvic pressure, back pain, sciatic episodes which are mostly when it is too cold, baby is kicking and moving like crazy and on a somewhat schedule too (It is always around the same time that it is having a dance party), braxton hicks all day long

What I miss: Sleeping comfortably, being able to paint my toes and shaving normally, my pants not ripping up the seam....

Their baby's the size of a papaya!
During month five, the average fetus measures about 10.5 to 11.8 inches and weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces.

Their baby at 22 weeks!
  • Now that he's got more developed eyes and lips, he's looking even more like a newborn.
  • He's sleeping in cycles -- about 12 to 14 hours per day.

It is normal for most OB offices to do a routine test called an Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) which checks for certain markers in the baby.  I had mine a few weeks ago and was able to get the results within the following week.

Alpha-fetoprotein Screening (AFP) -- A simple blood test that poses no risk to the fetus, AFP screening measures the levels of alpha-fetoprotein in the mother's blood. Abnormal levels can indicate a brain or spinal cord defect, the presence of twins, a miscalculated due date, or an increased risk of Down syndrome. Since AFP levels can be elevated for a number of reasons, a positive test is usually repeated or followed up by other tests before a diagnosis is made. Very few women with elevated AFP levels are found later to have babies with birth defects

The test was actually really simple and non-invasive, it is a simple blood draw and that is it.  With this test they ask you quite a few questions to best determine what the blood says for results.  Since this is not my baby we just used the age and other information with the Intended Parents and a few questions about me.  They ask how old the egg donor was and that would be the age that my Intended Mother was when they retrieved her eggs.  They ask if there is any history of family genetic anomalies to get a history and go from there.

Results came back all negative for everything!!  This was great news and as for the blood work it proves that the baby is healthy and without any genetic anomalies.  We have our big ultrasound in a few weeks and the parents will decide from there if they want any further testing.

I do have to add that being a phlebotomist I have gotten a few calls from main lab saying such and such patient came back with a positive.  With this particular test if it comes back positive it does NOT mean that your unborn child does indeed have whatever came back positive.  It gives you a number such as 1 in 204 chance of having this, that is not a yes your baby has this anomaly.  If this had come back positive I am certain that my Intended Parents would have requested for me to have an amniocentesis which is a little more invasive and in my eye's can be risky (that is my opinion though).  That is a bit more accurate then the simple blood draw.

19 weeks along

 19 weeks

I talked to my doctor this past Tuesday about some things that I have had concerns about.  Nothing to fret about but just for future.  I have honestly been feeling like I might deliver this baby breech and I wanted to make sure my doctor was on the same wave length as me.  If she wasn't then I would need to start looking for a provider that would be on board.  You see, I want to avoid a c-section just like any other girl. :)  My provider is awesome and said she actually enjoys delivering breech babies.  I am so thrilled that she is on board and I know she will make sure this is a safe and enjoyable delivery.  I really did enjoy the delivery of my daughter, it was a very spiritual experience for me!!

Weight Gain: 14 lbs.  I am sure I had gained twice that with my daughter at this point.

Cravings: Fruit, ice water, salads, chicken, pork, mashed potatoes with extra gravy,  juice

Symptoms: Shot pain on my right side still of my hip (girls in my group said that should go away shortly), tossing and turning in my sleep, getting up to pee about a billion times (that is new from my first pregnancy, I never had that issue), braxton hicks which my doctor said is perfectly normal this early (she has seen people have them as early as 12 weeks)

Movement: Baby likes to move around early in the morning as I'm getting ready and then right before I go to bed.  It is constantly in my ribs and has only caused some pain once.  I still have pain there from when I was carrying my daughter and I'm sure it is only going to get worse.  My daughter was able to feel a tiny little kick just the other night.  It was really cool!  I think the baby has been having hiccups lately unless it is just kicking in a consecutive manner.

Their baby's the size of a mango!
He is about 6.0 inches long and weighing in at about 8.5 ounces, he's getting there!

Their baby at 19 weeks
  • Developing a protective coating over his skin, called vernix caseosa. It's greasy and white and you may see some of it at his birth.
  • Working on his five senses. Nerve cells for his sense of taste, hearing, sight and smell are developing in his brain.

18 weeks along-5 months along

I will have to post a picture when I have one.  I've been taking care of my daughter after her surgery so there hasn't been much getting ready around here.  There has been lots of pj wearing and moving watching though.

I can't believe that we are probably half way done with this journey and 18 weeks is the beginning of 5 months.  I delivered my daughter a week early so it very well could happen the same.  I am content going as long as possible though since I don't want to be induced.  I am cherishing ever second being pregnant since it is going by so quickly.

I have been having really bad case of heart burn and tums aren't really covering it anymore.  It is actually getting a little ridiculous.  I am avoiding a lot of foods that I know will trigger it and will make it worse.  It stinks because some of the foods I've been avoiding are the foods that I am craving. :(  Something I'll be bringing up to the doctor this Tuesday.

I only worked a month or so when I was pregnant with my daughter so this has been different this go around.  It didn't matter that I had insomnia and wouldn't be able to fall asleep since I didn't have to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for work the next morning.  That has been a new adventure but it is going okay.  By the middle of the day if it is super slow I am dog tired and have even caught myself falling asleep at my desk.  Forget about coming home and wanting to cook dinner or get myself or the little one ready for bed at all.  Hopefully with this second trimester the energy level will start to pick up.

I have also been having some pain from my PIO injection site lately.  Just on the right hip area too.  I don't know if the feeling is trying to come back or what but it hurts so bad some days.  I thought the pain would stop after being done with shots but it has decided to continue on.  I am hoping it is just the feeling coming back completely since it is still a bit numb on that side.  It sure is painful though.

I just got to see my ex mother in law while she was passing through and I wish I knew what she was thinking.  She kept staring at my belly but wouldn't say a word to me.  I'm sure my ex has told some crazy story about why I am pregnant.  I will never know though because she will probably never bring it up.  I would much rather enlighten her and anyone about this amazing experience then them be confused or told something not completely true.

Weight Gain: I'll let ya know after my appointment on Tuesday since I don't have anything at my house to weigh myself.

Cravings: Sprite with vanilla extract still, sweet potatoes, I really would love anything Mexican or all you can eat at Tucanos!  YUM!  So basically meat is still a huge craving of mine.  Also, pineapple, cold cereal, ice cream, smothered delicious burritos, and ice cold water.  I will say I have had quite a few salads that were absolutely amazing!

Symptoms: Heart burn, Braxton hicks, some insomnia (my least favorite when I have work super early), tossing and turning at night (my whale pillow is a must now), some leaking of colostrum I believe (yes so fun! ha) with that comes extremely tender boobs, and clothes do NOT fit anymore so I have resorted to maternity pants now.  I have been feeling the baby move quite a bit this past week.  I swear if someone were to put their hand on my belly and concentrated they might be able to feel it too.  My daughter has tried to feel but she is too impatient to wait for it.  I think in a couple of weeks other people will be able to feel it moving around in there.

Their baby's the size of a sweet potato!
He's/She's about 5.6 inches long and about 6.7 ounces now and he/she keeps on growing rapidly. (That's why I'm probably feeling so hungry.)

Their baby at 18 weeks
  • Can you believe he's/she's yawning, hiccuping, sucking and swallowing?
  • And he's/she's twisting, rolling, punching and kicking, too -- and he's/she's big enough now that I'm able to feel him/her doing it!

Surro Sisters Luncheon

Four out of the six of us are pregnant and one will be pregnant shortly.

We are about a week and a half apart.  You can't really tell but I am further along then Jen is.

With all the craziness that has been going on it was a much needed girl time with these lovely ladies.  We try and get together once a month.  I am not always able to make it but I needed this time for me.  These are the only women who truly get the feelings I have and know what I am going through.  I can say something and they don't look at me like I am crazy because they have felt the same way or similar.  They have been my complete support aside from my best friend and I am so grateful for them!  These are girls who aren't just a monthly visit but we spend time together and are truly friends and are there for each other.  I love them to pieces and so glad to have them apart of my life and this journey!

16 weeks 6 days

I just have to say I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going by.  I swear we just barely transferred the little miracle pea and I was anxiously waiting for a positive pregnancy test.  With how busy the holidays always are it is going to be down to crunch time before I know it.  I am honestly just really trying to treasure these moments because it will be over before I know it.

Weight Gain: 10 lbs from transfer.  Not bad if I say so myself.

Cravings: Meat, Ice water, Sprite with vanilla extract, Rice, salads, Mexican food; any kind of it, Cheese

Symptoms: Heartburn has kicked and is staying for good.  Will be getting a script for that since tums aren't even touching it.  Hip pain already.  I have my trusty whale pillow that helps with the tossing and turning at night, Still pretty tired.  Constantly hungry, like I will eat and an hour later it is like I haven't eaten in days.  Braxton hicks already.  Little kicks and movements.  Those are literally the best part of this.  I can already feel it kicking my ribs, the exact spot my daughter would kick me.  Extremely itchy belly and boobs.  Have to pee all the time.

It looks like next week will mark 5 months into this pregnancy too.  I told you it is zooming by!

Their baby's the size of an onion!
Baby continues to beef up. Now he's/she's about 5.1 inches long and weighs about 5.9 ounces.
 Their baby at 17 weeks
  • His/Her rubbery cartilage is now turning to bone.
  • And he's/she's growing some meat on those bones -- putting on some fat.
  • He's/She's growing a stronger, thicker umbilical cord, too.

15 weeks along

15 weeks along
This is what happens when you have friends that own their Doppler, you get to hear the heart beat when you want to.  My sweet surro friend is letting me borrow her Doppler until she is pregnant and I can't thank her enough!

I know I've said it before but not feeling the baby moving consistently at this point it can put a lot of worry in your mind.  It is a lot of pressure to do this and make sure that nothing goes wrong at all.  With my daughter I just didn't worry because I knew it would be okay.  With this pregnancy I still feel it will be okay but it isn't mine so there is extra pressure for it to go just right.  This has been reassuring to just stick it on my belly and hear that sweet thumping beat!  The baby doesn't like the Doppler put on because it will move around and sometimes will kick it away.  It is so sweet though.

14 weeks and 5 days

The wonderful thing about working in your doctor's office is you get free ultrasounds every once in a while.  This baby was moving around and was just being so cute!!  It is a constant worry about how the baby is doing until you actually start feeling it move and so this was amazing to see.  It still feels like I'm out of body and I honestly have to remind myself that there is a little person inside of me.  It is truly a miracle and can't wait for mom and dad to hold this little pea!

Surro sisters

Sometimes it is NOT all rainbows and sunshine doing this and you just need someone who gets it and get you.  Thanks to my sweet friend, Jen who has been there through the ups and downs of this crazy roller coaster ride!  We are about a week and a half apart too.  She is carrying for another family as well!  You can check her blog out HERE!!

13 weeks and 1 day

This is what happens when you have your 4 year old take the picture and then refuse to retake it.  At least I am somewhat in the photo. ha  13 weeks and 1 day here!

Belly Picture

12 weeks and 3 days along!

I have been refusing to buy any maternity clothes and to wear any for that matter.  I think it is getting close to me needing them though.  I literally have my pants unbuttoned here but they are still zipped up.  The pressure from it being buttoned is just so uncomfortable.  I did cave and buy a belly band so that I can be button free for a while.

Almost 12 weeks...

Weight Gain: 8 lbs. of  pure fluff and maybe a little bit of baby

Cravings: Eggs, French toast with cream and yummy syrup, orange juice, cheese burgers with bacon, oh and bacon and more bacon!  Anything that has meat in it really.  Nothing has really changed with food other then maybe I've indulged a few hot dogs covered in chili here and there.

Aversions: A few smells make me super nauseated still.  I am slowly eating all foods that I normally would.  I was even able to drink a green smoothie again which was amazingly yummy!!

Symptoms: Nausea is easing up a little bit.  Still have bouts of feeling sick but not as bad.  My belly and boobs itch like crazy town.  I have a noticeable baby bump now and hopefully my boobs are growing. ha  Still extremely exhausted but hopefully with the 2nd trimester coming up that will ease up as well.

What miss: I miss not feeling like a giant whale.  I know I'm not the big yet but for some reason I feel huge.  I already have a difficult time breathing sometimes.  Now to add tossing and turning at night.

I do have a video of the baby but for some reason it won't upload it.  I will keep trying.  It was so cute and moving around a little bit.

Happy Dance!!

I would like to announce that I will be stopping all meds this evening.  I have two shots left tonight, one of progesterone and one of estrogen.  Then I am DONE!!!

My behind is beyond painful right now.  I have numbness, knots the size of pickles (yes in that length), new and old bruises and soreness.  I am hoping that by the 3rd trimester my back side will be back to it's normal self and not the beat up that it looks now.  I would share pictures but I will spare you all that awfulness. ha  Yeah for the final day of shots!!!

Yes I am a bit excited about this moment!  I never thought I would hate shots so much in my life but after giving myself roughly 75 shots I am done.  I don't want to see these shots for a while for sure!

9 weeks!

Weight Gain: 4 lbs.  It is crazy to me how much you can gain and then not gain with pregnancy.

Cravings: Eggs, French toast with cream and yummy syrup, orange juice, cheese burgers with bacon, oh and bacon and more bacon!  Anything that has meat in it really.  I eat whatever sounds good at the time since I might not like it later.

Aversions: Too much milk, plain water is really gross right now (choking it down though), certain smells make me sick almost instantly too.

Symptoms: Nausea 24/7 although some days are decent and not too bad, tossing and turning at night, Awesome acid reflux which makes me sleep sitting up right every so often.

What miss: Not wanting to throw up every single day and night, not having heart burn, sleeping without having to sit upright.

The past few weeks have seemed to zip on by with nothing to crazy going on.  I have had a few bouts of heart burn really bad.  So bad that I literally had to sleep sitting up right to help me fall asleep.  That was unexpected this soon in the pregnancy but it just means it is a healthy pregnancy I suppose.

I do have bouts of really good days or moments during the day where the nausea is gone, completely.  Those are great and makes me look forward to when it is gone completely.  I couldn't go in the kitchen for a while but the one day I was feeling awesome I cleaned it top to bottom really good!

I have been really tired but not so bad.  I do literally come home after work and eat, bath my daughter and get us both ready for bed.  I am getting probably 10-12 hours of sleep at night.  If I don't get enough sleep at night I am dying at work and falling asleep so sleep right now is my friend!

First Ultrasound

I flew into California on Saturday morning; we decided it would be easier to have me there.  We planned to have our first ultrasound this Sunday to see the baby and the heartbeat.  The entire family would be there to witness this little miracle growing inside me!  I was a bit sad that my daughter wasn't able to be there too since she's been my biggest fan through all this.

I was so tired from the week that when we got to their house on Saturday I literally slept til dinner time.  The pregnancy exhaustion has kicked it up and been a constant friend from sun up til sun down.  I felt a little bad since it seems I have slept the entire stay the last two times I came to visit.

On Sunday we were getting ready and for some reason I thought just the Mr & Mrs were coming.  I don't know why I didn't think the little kidlets would be there to.  That was really neat to have everyone there and to get excited.  Ms. Diva was constantly asking to touch my belly and would proceed to poke it instead. :)

When we got to the clinic is was overflowing with patients waiting to be seen.  It was probably the most full we have ever seen it thus far.  The wait was to a minimum thank goodness and we were called back quickly.  I got ready in the room and then Mr&Mrs came in.  They were going to have the kids come in right away but the doctor talked them into waiting to make sure everything was going good.  Once we saw the heartbeat we had the kids come in to see the little pea.  I was measuring exactly 7 weeks on Sunday and my due date is April 26th!

The cute little pea just hanging out!!

6 weeks

I am officially 6 weeks along!!  So crazy to think that we are half way done with the first trimester and will be in the clear soon!!  It goes by a lot quicker then you think it does!

I feel like I am starting to show already but maybe it is just in my head.  I have been doing good with morning sickness so far and have only had to take one zofran pill because I just wasn't getting on top of the yuck feeling.  That pill is heaven sent for sure!!

We go for our first ultrasound to check on the baby/babies on Sunday to see the heartbeat and make sure everything is going smoothly!  So excited!

Thursday, August 29, 2013

From top to bottom is the proof that this little one is sticking around for a while.  I started testing on 2dpt5dt but of course didn't get a positive til later.  The top is 4dpt and then so on until 18dpt and the line is finally darker then the control line.  It makes me so happy for the California's!!  We have our first ultrasound in a couple weeks and they can't wait to see their little pea or two!  Come on, let the time pass by quickly!

5 weeks along

My little one took these and she did her best job being my photographer!

Weight Gain: 1 lb weigh gain.  I didn't gain anything from

Cravings: Orange Chicken, Chocolate, Cranberry Chicken

Aversions: Hamburger Meat, Bananas, Yogurt

Symptoms: Weight Gain, Hunger Pains, Headaches, Nausea all day and every day, Heat flashes, Sore behind from shots, and Bloated, Sore Boobies, Tired, Emotional

What miss: Maybe not having the constant sick and yuck feeling.  Every once in a while that feeling goes away and it is a breath of fresh air but then it comes back.
your baby's the size of an appleseed!
Your embryo is now measurable -- though at week five, it's a wee .13 inches -- and she's gearing up for much more growth. In fact, in the next week, she'll almost double in size. Grow baby grow!

your baby at 5 weeks
  • The embryo doesn't look like much more than a tadpole right now, but at five weeks, she's already starting to form major organs (heart, stomach, liver, kidney) and systems (digestive, circulatory, nervous)

Man I feel like a huge complainer after that.  I really am grateful to be apart of this amazing process and hopefully my Intended Parents are just reassured that their little pea is sticking around.

This is all new to me because with my pregnancy with my daughter I can name on ONE hand the amounts of time I felt like hell.  I knew there would be morning sickness but not the day after transfer and not every single day.  This is going to get used to so please bare with me if I am complaining.  It definitely is not that I am not so excited to be doing this or proud of what is going on but I am just not used to it.  I know the extra progesterone I am shooting in my body probably is duplicating the symptoms ten fold.  This just didn't happen til a little later in my first trimester!

I am tired just from having a toddler and I didn't think it would get much worse.  Boy, was I wrong!  I can be in bed at 8:30 pm which does happen and sleep til 7 am the next morning.  I am good for a couple hours and then I'm dragging again.  My IM gave me these Folic Acid, Vitamin B6 and B12 tablet and I thought for sure that pill would boost my energy.  I will just say I'm still waiting for that boost of energy!  Maybe in the 2nd trimester! ha

Official Beta

Tuesday I have my levels checked per the fertility doctors orders this go around.  I was surprised at how much higher they were then what I thought they'd be.  We figured if it doubled like it should that they would about 80-90 on Tuesday and then double like normal.  They have this myth that if you are carrying twins that it will triple.  I have always felt like I would carry twins but when the "unofficial" beta came back and it only doubled I started to think there was just one pea in my pod!

Tuesday my level was a 143 and so I got a little shock by that.  Was NOT expecting that number.  Not getting my hopes though.  Then Thursday I had my second official beta check and it was at 426.  It had basically tripled.

Either this pea is really strong or there are two peas in my pod!!  We are having an ultrasound on September 7th or 8th and will know more then!

4 weeks...36 to go

I'm going to document this entire process like I did with my little one and it has proved to be different already.

So we transferred August 10 with a 5 day embryo and so I was officially 4 weeks along on August 19!  I have been having nausea and morning sickness, more like all day sickness since the 11th.  At first I thought I was crazy for thinking I could be feeling sick this soon in the game but it is possible people.  It has been interesting because I definitely don't remember getting nausea or sick til I was almost 6-8 weeks along with my baby.

I have been pretty tired!  I mean to the point I'm in bed by the time the little one goes to bed at 8:30pm.  I definitely remember that happening much later.

I have had some aversions to fruit, or maybe it is just the after taste of the fruit.  Whatever it is it didn't settle well and made me pretty miserable!

I am still taking progesterone and estrogen shots and my behind is pretty sore.  I have knots and bruises so badly and I cry and cringe every time I have to stick myself.

I have been asked by a very few people how I have been feeling emotionally about all of this since it isn't my baby.  I have to say that because I have always known it is going to be their biological baby and that it has none of my biology it has been so different.  It is more of a feeling of I am excited for my best friend to have a baby.  When I got pregnant with my baby girl I was excited for me and for the planning and everything that went with it.  This time I know it is for someone else and I am so excited for them.  It was like okay I have a positive pee stick and was excited for them to find out the news.  I will be excited for each part of the pregnancy but in a different way.  It will be excitement for my best friend kind of way!

Unofficial Beta

Since I work for a blood lab I had always decided that I would get my blood drawn just for our own amusement.  I am glad that I did.  It gave us all a little peace of mind too!  The day I got a positive pregnancy stick I got my first beta done to check my HCG levels.  They generally have you do it every two days to make sure that the number is doubling like it needs to be.  If it isn't then it can mean all sorts of things.

On Thursday my first beta came back and it was a 13.  That means that the hormone level at 13 can be detected on a First Response pregnancy test and on a cheap dollar store one.

On Saturday I got my results back and they were 27.40 which means they at least doubled!  We were excited that things were looking good so far.  We are aware that anything can happen since it is so early at this point in the pregnancy.

Holy freaking YEAH!!!

Last night I took it easy and had a great night with my bugs a boo!  We went to the movie and enjoyed the movie theatre all to our self and got Smart Cookie!  So fun!!

Thursday morning I really wasn't going to POAS but I just thought why not.  I honestly thought it was going to be negative again.  I dipped it and set it on the top of the toilet and then continued to get ready for the day.  When I looked a few minutes later I was SHOCKED!!  I started screaming and jumping up and down!  It was a positive!!!  I was freaking out with excitement, it worked!!  It actually freaking worked and I was carrying for this amazing couple!

I am an hour ahead of my IPs and so I called them and probably startled my IM a bit.  Our conversation went something like this....

Mrs. California: Is everything okay?
Me: Yes, I am your 4th child calling to say good morning!!
Mrs. California: What??
Me: You are going to be a mommy again!

Seriously I wish I could have been in person when I told her but I could tell from her voice how excited she was and probably shocked that there last hope had worked!!  I called before her hubby left for work so they got to find out together that they were having another baby!  I talked to their youngest Ms. Diva and she is pretty excited to be a big sister, I don't know if she knows exactly what that entails yet. :)

Since I work at a lab I went ahead and had my blood drawn to just check to see if my numbers would double or not.  Those results for later!

Here is to having a little pea in my pod now!!

 Home test!!
We drew my blood and took the serum from the draw and put it on to see if I'd get a positive from my blood already and sure enough it was a light line with in a minute!!

Once I left California I made it a goal to wait until at least 5 days post transfer to start testing to see if I would get a positive.  I just couldn't wait that long though and although I knew they would be negative so early I started testing Monday morning.  I thought why not and I knew it would be negative, but it is the excitement of waiting for a positive.

I thought it is too soon so I won't get my hopes up if it is negative until day 6.  Monday I got a negative and I was okay.  I felt like it's fine there is still plenty of time.  Tuesday a negative and I was still feeling confident that it would be positive.  I tested Wednesday and I swear there was a light, light, light line but there just wasn't.  I was a little disappointed about it.  I just wanted it to be positive so badly and want this to work for my couple so badly.  I want them to be able to add to their family.

I told everyone that I was going to wait until Friday or Saturday to test because I couldn't handle another negative.  So we wait.....

This day has been awaited and planned for months and months now and it has finally arrived!!!!  As I got ready and was in the shower I was so overwhelmed and started to cry.  This was happening!  That sweet Spirit I have felt countless times was going to be and was going to thrive and be given a chance at life.  I literally could feel how excited they were to be given this chance.

We headed over to the fertility clinic and chatted for a bit while we waited.  Mrs. California and I were getting a little anxious for this to go down and then there was Mr. California.  He was a cool cucumber and just was so content.  On the way to the clinic I asked Mrs. C if she was going to cry since I probably would and she said she had already teared up a little.

When we started this journey we had always agreed to transfer 2 embryos and they had four frozen so I always thought that's what we would end up doing.  When we got there we found out that only 1 baby embie made it through the thaw.  We were a little sad about that but it was also a blessing in disguise.  They didn't want to have to make a difficult choice on what to do if they had any left over and this worked the first time.  God took over that part of the decision for everyone!! :)

They called us back and I changed in to my awesome gown and she told us the embryologist would be in soon to explain further instructions for after the procedure.  We waited and waited and the nurse finally came back and she ended up explaining our instruction for afterwards.  This was starting to get real!  It was about that time that I had taken the Valium and I am SO glad that I did.  I know some girls say the procedure is so simple and similar to a pap smear and to go sans the Valium.  Although the procedure was simple and quick once it actually it got started but the speculum just hanging out down town didn't really feel that great.

The doctor came in and IP's chatted a second and then we started the miracle making!!  I won't lie this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life aside from giving birth to my daughter.  I have had many spiritual experiences leading up to this decision and then to this point and this wasn't any different.  It was amazing and I started to tear up almost immediately!

They transferred one little embryo and then I had to wait on the table for 10 minutes and then I could FINALLY empty my VERY full bladder.  Whoever said that was necessary didn't have someone pushing on your bladder and someone in your business for 20 minutes.

It felt so surreal to realize that he just implanted a little start of a baby in my uterus and that I could possibly become pregnant if it was meant to be.  I was taking the meds correctly and doing what they wanted so now it was all in God's hands.  Now we just wait to start POAS!!!

Valium was starting to kick in and I was feeling really awesome at this point!!
We originally thought we were transferring both of these little beauties but we only transferred the top on which was a grade A+.  The bottom one didn't expand and wasn't thriving. :(
If you can tell, the little white dot in the center is where the little embie is starting to get snuggled in for a long 9 months!!

Zoo Day!

Friday we all wanted to keep busy since we were so excited for the big day on Saturday!  The night before I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to the beach again or if she'd like to go to the zoo.  She tells me "mom we already went to the beach!"  To the zoo we went!

We went to the Santa Barbara zoo and had tons of fun!  There was lots to see and they had baby giraffes there which were so cute!  The kids did surprisingly well considered we were there during nap time and the two littlest are dependent on nap time.  I would say it was a great day!

We got home and just relaxed and got ready for the big morning!  I can't believe it was finally here!  We had been planning this day for 8 months and it was finally hours away!!
